It also remained the highest-grossing movie distributed by Universal (also surpassing E.T.) until it was surpassed by Fast and Furious 7 in 2015**, 22 years later. After it was re-released in 2013 it became the 17th movie in history to gross $1 billion and the 1st Universal movie to do so
