Jurassic Park Wiki

Agustinia is a genus of sauropod from the Early Cretaceous period in Argentina, South America. Its name honors the student Agustin Martinelli, who discovered the skeleton in 1997 and was part of the excavation team of the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales. At first, it initially has spikes on its back for defense and belonged to its own family, Agustiniidae. However, recent studies show that the spikes are now thought to be ribcage parts while the sauropod actually comes from the family branch of Rebbachisaurus.

Agustinia lived in the Lohan Cura Formation, which housed turtles and other sauropods.

Agustinia so far appeared in an artwork of the Dinopedia of the Jurassic Park Institute. It is portrayed in an outdated manner, with spikes on its back that are now believed to have been ribcage parts.
