Attenborosaurus is an extinct genus of pliosaurid that lived in Dorset, England during the Early Jurassic period. The type species is A. conybeari, discovered in 1880 and named in 1881 as a species of Plesiosaurus before being given its own genus in 1993. The genus is named after British broadcaster and nature historian David Attenborough, who is also the brother of Richard Attenborough, the actor who played John Hammond in the films Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, while the species is named after William Conybeare.
