Barosaurus was a large Diplodocidae that lived in the Upper Jurassic Period. It could grow more than 26 meters (85 feet) in length and weigh up to 22 tons. It was closely related to Diplodocus.

Other names Barosaurus had was Gigantosaurus (not to be confused with the super predator Giganotosaurus).

Barosaurus is number 56 of the Herbivore Threes that can be created in the game Jurassic Park III: Park Builder.

The Barosaurus in Jurassic Park III:Park Builder, was actually a Tornieria africana.[citation needed] Tornieria was originally misclassified as a Barosaurus africanus.

  • The Barosaurus used in Jurassic Park III: Builder are innacurately shown with their necks held up high, as recent studies show the giant sauropod lacked vertical flexibility in its neck.
