The black-throated monitor (Varanus albigularis microstictus), also called the black-throated monitor lizard or black-throated African monitor lizard, is a subspecies of rock monitor in the family Varanidae native to Tanzania.

The DNA of the black-throated monitor was used in the creation of the Velociraptor Blue, not only giving her body color and iridescent stripe matching her name, but also allowing her to asexually reproduce.
