The blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), also known as the blue-and-gold macaw, is a species of parrot that lives in the jungles, woodlands, and savannahs of South America. It is recognisable by its colors: mostly blue dorsum, light yellow/orange venter, and gradient hues of green on top of its head. It is a popular bird in pet trades. Domesticated blue-and-yellow macaws will "scream" or make other loud noises for attention.
History[]
Jurassic Park III[]
Mark Degler has a pet blue-and-yellow macaw named Jack. He is seen in his cage when Alan Grant is having dinner with Ellie Sattler and Mark Degler. Alan stands by the bird's cage, holding a treat. He questions the macaw to see if it remembers his name, although he receives no response. Ellie laughs, and Grant moves towards the dining table.
