In the novel Jurassic Park Adventures: Prey, the Bureau of Ancient Animal Affairs was a government department established by Dr. Alan Grant in order to study the dinosaurs of Isla Sorna. It was established shortly after a United Nations Congregation, in which Eric Kirby spoke as a testifying witness.
Location[]
The Bureau of Ancient Animal Affairs had a field office in the Ranger Station on Isla Sorna. The ranger station as a whole was built following Alan Grant's proposal to the UN General Assembly, and served as a field base for the Bureau.
Mission[]
The Bureau of Ancient Animal affairs had three primary goals:
- Study and preserve the dinosaur population.
- Protect the dinosaurs from threats stemming not only from without, such as illegal human interference.
- Protect the dinosaurs from internal threats, for example, dinosaur starvation; the inability of dinosaurs to nurture their young due to the physical limitations of their environment; and individual species hunted to extinction by other dinosaurs, due to the out-of-balance predator-to-prey ratio.
