The California sea lion (Zalophus californianus) is a species of seal that lives in western North America, ranging from Alaska to Mexico. Their main diet consists of fishes and squids, and their predators include the great white shark and the orca. Males grow up to 2.5 to 2.7 meters long and weigh around 350 kg. In the meantime, females grow up to 2.1 meters and weigh around 100 kg. The males are known for territory or during courtship. They have manes, but are less developed than those of the South American sea lions and Steller sea lions.
The Carlifornia sea lion is an intelligent animal that can be trained for aquariums or oceanariums.
