- "The surface of the lagoon rippled in pink crescents. Farther south, they saw the graceful necks of the camarasaurs, standing at the water's edge, their bodies mirrored in the moving surface."

Camarasaurus was a very heavily built member of the long-necked sauropod family. In some editions of the Jurassic Park novel, Apatosaurus is replaced by Camarasaurus. It is also replaced by Brontosaurus and/or Apatosaurus once more later in the novel. Information given below is directly copied from that of Apatosaurus.
Characteristics[]
Dr. Harding says that Camarasaurus has a motion-based amphibian vision. Their vocalizations were like the trumpeting of an elephant.
History[]
Creation[]
Camarasaurus was created in a laboratory located in a village owned by InGen on Isla Sorna for Jurassic Park. At least a herd of them with the version 3.1 were transferred to Isla Nublar, where the park was located. The herd of Camarasaurus consists of 17 members. The herd lives in the lagoon, nicknamed Sauropod Swamp, side by side with Hadrosaurus and Maiasaura.
InGen Incident[]
After the endorsement team arrives at Isla Nublar, they can see a herd of Camarasaurus down in the lagoon. The visitors are amazed by the living dinosaurs in front of their view.
After Dennis Nedry disabled the park, the Camarasaurus were allowed to roam outside their enclosure. When Gerry Harding, Ellie Sattler, and Gennaro are driving through the lagoon to the settlement, a herd of Camarasaurus is standing on the road. Dr. Harding explains that smaller animals can be scared away with a recorded T. rex roar, but not Camarasaurus.
Only 12 Camarasaurus are left at the end. The remaining are all killed in the napalm bombing along with the rest of the dinosaurs.
The Lost World[]
During the 1995 Isla Sorna Expedition, Ian Malcolm explains that Camarasaurs and Fabrosaurs were among the dinosaurs to die off by the Cretaceous.[1]
