The Canada goose (Branta canadensis) is a species of goose recognizable by its black head and neck, white cheeks and chin, and a brown body. It is native to the arctic and temperate regions of North America, and has been known to migrate to warmer lands during the winter. In fact, the Canada goose is best known for its migration.
During recent years, populations of Canada geese have grown substantially, most likely due to the absence of natural predators alongside an abundance of safe, human-made bodies of water near food sources.
Males display aggressive behavior during breeding and nesting rounds, rarely involving interspecific killing.
