The capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris), or greater capybara, is the largest rodent to have ever lived, native to South America. Ranging from savannahs to dense forests, it feeds on grasses and aquatic plants. It is a semiaquatic mammal, and faces many predators. Capybaras were once present in south North America during the Pleistocene, more specifically at the areas of Florida and California. Its close relatives include guinea pigs and rock cavies, and it is distantly related to the agouti, the chinchilla, and the nutria.

The capybara has become a figure in meme culture during the 2020s.

The DNA of the capybara is used for the Stress Inhibitor trait gene (added in the Secrets of Dr. Wu DLC) that can be used to make dinosaurs that adapt well to stressful situations (relatively speaking) by decreasing communications between neurons in the brain.
