The common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) is a species of toothed whale that is native to every ocean. It is the type species of the genus Tursiops. It is also the most widespread and familiar type of dolphin. It is one of the smartest animals on planet as they can identify themselves in the mirror unlike other animals (with the exception of a few including humans) and are known for group hunting where they form a circle around a school fishes to capture and eat them.

Dolphins were first mentioned by Isabella when she mistakenly identified a pair of Spinosaurus as one.
Later during the ending scene common bottlenose dolphins made their first physical appearance in the film as they were seen jumping in the ocean when the group finally escaped the island along with the samples.

The DNA of the bottlenose dolphin is used for the Cross Species Adaptation trait gene (added in the Secrets of Dr. Wu DLC) that can be used to make dinosaurs that thrive in groups containing other species.
