The Costa Rican National Guard is a fictional military branch of the (non-existent) Costa Rican military. It made a minor appearance in the first novel, where troops in olive-green uniforms evacuated the survivors of the InGen Incident before napalming the island. They may have also used nerve gas, as stated by Muldoon.

- Oddly, Crichton used a military branch from Costa Rica; however, Costa Rica has not had an official military in years. They were supposed to be the Costa Rican Civil Guard, which was abolished in 1996, 7 years after the Isla Nublar Incident.
