D. Thompson was the captain of the ship S.S. Venture. Shortly after the Tyrannosaurus rex onboard awoke, he killed Captain Thompson along with the majority of the crew. His severed hand was found by Peter Ludlow.

- His name was never revealed in the Lost World movie itself. The name is revealed in the Lost World video game. In the intro video of the Human Hunter level a list of InGen members appears, one of them is:
