Jurassic Park Wiki

Deirdre Bowman is the overprotective mother of Cathy Bowman and the wife of Paul Bowman.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

Deirdre first appeared at the very beginning of the The Lost World: Jurassic Park picnicking on a beach with both her husband and daughter, Paul and Cathy Bowman. Deirdre wouldn't allow her own daughter to play and have fun on the beach, due to having an irrational fear of snakes. When Cathy was attacked by a pack of Compsognathus, we see Deirdre screaming in horror just before the scene cuts away. Deirdre and her family is not seen in the rest of the movie, but John Hammond mention that Cathy surivived the attack.

Deirdre appears to be based on Ellen Bowman, the mother of Tina Bowman, a character from the Jurassic Park novel.

Deirdre Bowman appears as a playable character in LEGO Jurassic World. In the game's retelling of the events of the second film, her daughter's encounter with the Compsognathus is absent and instead the Bowman Family's visit to Isla Sorna is depicted in two still photographs in Hammond's room when Hammond is talking to Ian Malcolm about the incident. In the first photo, Deirdre is sunbathing on their yacht and watches as her daughter catches an octopus with a fishing pole. The second photo depicts Deirdre Bowman with her family feeding a T. rex a hot dog despite a nearby "Do Not Feed" sign.

She is unlocked for purchase in Free Mode after the completion of the Main Story mission "InGen Arrival". After the mission is completed, she can be purchased from the character select menu in Free Mode, or alternatively an NPC of Deirdre can be found near the dock on Isla Sorna and by interacting with her the player is given the option to unlock her. Regardless of the method used it costs 40,000 Studs (LEGO currency) to unlock her for play.

Like most female characters in the game, Deirdre possesses the Agile ability which allows her to jump higher than male characters and allows her to use Pink/Blue LEGO objects to access new areas. She can also use her Scream ability to break LEGO Glass by screaming, an ability she shares with her daughter, Cathy. Her scream ability is a reference to her screaming upon seeing her daughter being attacked in the film. The several of the pieces of LEGO Deirdre (such as her main body and sun hat with hair) can also be unlocked as character customization options.
