The Department of Prehistoric Wildlife is an organization featured in Jurassic World: Dominion[1][2] and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
Mission[]
The Department of Prehistoric Wildlife (DPW) is a global organization that publishes up-to-date reports on dinosaur encounters, user-submitted sightings, and vital information, to facilitate the co-existence of humans and dinosaurs on our planet. Formed in 2019, the DPW works with leading scientists, conservationists, and paleo-veterinarians around the world to ensure the protection of our human and prehistoric population. It also runs Dinotracker.com.
History[]
The Department of Prehistoric Wildlife was created in 2019, one year after the infamous Dinosaur Outbreak at the Lockwood Manor following the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. They were the first responders any dinosaur-related activity, whether relocation or capture.
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory[]
Season 1[]
Sometime in 2021, Brooklynn started a new career and became an investigative journalist. Brooklynn was tracking down clues about illegal dinosaur smuggling, which she investigated on the website called Dark Jurassic. Her investigations led her to realize that the Department of Prehistoric Wildlife was corrupt and actively involved in dinosaur smuggling which they were hired to do by Soyona Santos.
During that time, Mateo was doing off the books drop off of dinosaurs in order to save her his daughter's college.
Having evidence of the DPW's illicit activities, Brooklynn established a drop-off point by placing an order or order to buy a dinosaur as an undercover operation, and organizing a meeting with Darius in March 2022, to tell him what she was investigating. Unbeknownst to her, the DPW Regional Director Dudley Cabrera already knew of her intentions and set a trap for her, releasing an Allosaurus to send her a threatening message. Darius did not show up that night as he promised, because he was too ashamed to be in love with her. While Brooklynn was recording a video, telling Darius that he should have been there by now, she heard a DPW truck arrive carrying the dinosaur she was going to buy which was Mateo whom thought he was supposed to meet someone to drop off the Allosaurus but no one showed up.
Confused, Mateo got out and saw the electronic lock on the dinosaur cage and the Allosaurus not tranquilized at all. The Allosaurus was released, and at first it stalked Mateo before heading Brooklynn and soon appeared behind her, Brooklynn ran and was pursued by the Allosaurus as this was seen by Mateo, however what Mateo didn't see was that the Handler whom was hired by the Broker find and kill the Nublar Six to prevent them from discovering what the Broker was doing appeared with her Atrociraptors (Ghost, Tiger and Panthera) and attacked where Ghost bit off her arm.
However, Ronnie, whom Brooklynn was unknowingly in contact with on Dark Jurassic as C13v3rGr186 whom tried to warn her moment before the Allosaurus arrived and when she got there, Brooklynn was semi-conscious and losing blood so Ronnie dragged her away leaving behind the pool of blood that Mateo and Darius saw when they arrived on the scene along with other DPW officers whom tried to tranquilize the Allosaurus before it ran away from the seen and Mateo was thought to have captured the dinosaur and he didn't correct them.
Ronnie knew something was up about the DPW for a while but he never knew they try something like what they did. Brooklynn knew if they accessed the DPW of Dinosaur Smuggling without proof Ronnie would lose her job and whomever tried to kill her would target the two of them so she decided to stay dead to find evidence while Ronnie did her own digging at work as she found Dinosaur Death Reports and other pieces of evidence. One day, when Ronnie was at work, Jensen broke into Ronnie's home, forcing Brooklynn to hide with the evidence she'd gathered where he overheard Jensen talking to someone (presumably the Broker) on the phone about Cabrera being clueless and threatening that if he or Ronnie got in the way, the Broker would send the Raptors after them and mentioned her friends and family with a similar threat before he left as Brooklynn remained hidden under the stairs porch.
Free Fall[]
Presumably, a Becklespinax managed to get into the Dinosaur Free Zone Island Yasmina was living on when Sammy and Ben came to warn her about the danger the Nublar Six were in from the trees and pursues the pair of them. Ben and Yaz run into the car, a civilian attempts to follow them, but is killed by the animal. As Ben drives off, Yaz attempts to call Sammy. However, Sammy is wandering off into the tunnel leading out of the island, just as Ben’s van drives towards her, still pursued by the animal.
Yaz reaches for Sammy, but the Becklespinax rams the car, attempting to get inside the vehicle. Sammy manages to get in while the animal is still trying to break through. Ben backs up the car, making a break for it, but they are forced to stop due to a second Becklespinax emerging on the other side. Yaz realizes the gate was intentionally left open. Cornered, they see DPW agents arrive, but they are attempting to hit the van and not the Becklespinax. As Ben attempts to escape, the Becklespinax pushes the van over the bridge, and both the van and the animal fall off, just as the DPW agents watch, and walk away from the scene.
That Night[]
When the trio escape the van, they watch from a hiding place as the DPW agents force the Becklespinax back into the trailer. Just as the DPW agents are occupied, Sammy, Yaz and Ben hide on the truck.
At the same time, Reaching Brooklynn's Secret apartment, Kenji and Darius entered her home and Darius finds a press release from Regional Director Dudley Cabrera of the DPW, and he manages to turn on Brooklynn’s laptop. He finds that the laptop was left on Dinotracker.com, and that she was on Dark Jurassic. Darius finds several potential leads such as an invoice for various ‘assets’, and he realizes that Brooklynn was getting involved with the dinosaur black market, and realizes that the DPW is involved heavily.
Into the Fog[]
The Nublar Five all eventually arrived at a Louisiana Warehouse where they found multiple DPW officers and workers transporting dinosaurs into large containers and storing them inside the warehouse to be shipping out/smuggled onto a cargo ship in the morning this including Big Eatie and Bumpy whom was captured earlier. Sneaking inside of the large warehouse, Darius realized that the operation and the dinosaurs were going all over the world to places such as the Netherlands, Malta and other places as well.
The End of the Beginning[]
When the Nublar Six are cornered by Dudley Cabrera, Darius realizes that he was the behind everything and was upset that he was selling dinosaurs for profit when the DPW was suppose to protect people from dinosaurs. He claims that they will be fine if they do what he says, but admits to being behind the smuggling operation. Cabrera also admits to setting up the scene with Brooklynn, but insists he hadn’t meant to kill her. He claims not to know about the Atrociraptors when Darius confronts him. He also admits to sending the threats on Dark Jurassic, and implies that if they do not cooperate he will harm them all and cover it up.
Cabrera tells them he wants them to drop the investigation, and orders Darius to return to working for the DPW to give the organization credibility. Ben tackles him, but Dudley manages to grab the prod and stun him, causing him to fall. Sammy uses her capoeira to knock Dudley unconscious as the group escapes. However, the group finds that they are locked in the building as they try to flee.
The front loading dock opens as the Handler appears, and Dudley arrives to greet her. He fires her, claiming to not want to be cleaning up more of her messes, and attempts to get Jensen to escort her out. However, Jensen tells Dudley that he has never been in control, and the Handler blows her whistle, summoning the Atrociraptors. The Handler whispers to Jensen, who reveals to Dudley before he leaves that their ‘boss’ doesn’t like loose ends. Dudley evades the Atrociraptors briefly and tries to plead for his life, but is killed by the raptors.
After the fight between Big Eatie, the Atrociraptors and the Allosaurus resulting in Big Eatie winning, the Atrociraptors injured and the Allosaurus retreating, the group take a breather, they see Jensen take a briefcase full of eggs to the ship, to be delivered to someone he only names as ‘the Broker’. However, as he is trying to call this phone number, he is alerted too late to the Allosaurs behind him, which attacks and kills him. As the group leaves shelter, they see the Handler, and she whistles again, however her Atrociraptors are too injured. Seeing the police arriving as well, she calls off the attack and orders the raptors to retreat and the group takes their chance to escape.
Behind the group, the ship prepares to depart as the group realizes that the Broker is a boss above the Handler. Darius resolves to keep investigating, as well as admitting his feelings for Brooklynn were one sided. The group decide to get on the boat to get to the bottom of all this. Mateo leaves, but wishes the group well. The group sneaks onto the boat, resolved to follow it to its destination.
Season 2[]
"Batten Down the Hatches"[]

Trivia[]
- While Dreadnoughtus, Iguanodon, Microceratus, Moros, and Oviraptor appear in the film, they are not acknowledged anywhere on the website. Similarly, Lystrosaurus appears briefly in a video in the Malta Black Market, but does not have a field guide profile. Either these animals don't have enough information for the DPW to properly list them, or the organization doesn't know of their existence. All but Microceratus and Lystrosaurus can be explained, as they either lived in BioSyn Valley or were illegally cloned. However, Microceratus was a species from Isla Nublar and as mentioned, Lystrosaurus is seen in a video.
- It is also known that the DPW did encounter Becklespinax, Majungasaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Suchomimus, and potentially Ouranosaurus. However, they are absent from the website despite appearing within the DPW Harbour in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
- On the fan-made reports, Troodon, Herrerasaurus, and Pachycephalosaurus can be seen, and the latter of which was on Isla Nublar in 2018 and could’ve been saved. However, these reports are, at most, soft canon, and the fate of these species remains unknown.
- On June 12th, 2022, the official DinoTracker Twitter account acknowledged a fan report of Austroposeidon, saying "Great information about this species. Thanks for reporting the sighting!".[27] However, it has since been deleted, likely due to the reporter using a screenshot from the TV show Prehistoric Planet and the species having no ties to the film canon.
- In a French website version, there is a Velociraptor sighting in Baltimore, Maryland, although this is meant to be a deleted sighting as Blue was originally intended to be the only one of her species in North America (along with her offspring Beta).[28][29]
- The Department of Fish and Wildlife likely worked with the DPW.
- Curiously enough, the LEGO version does not have an Apatosaurus for the logo, but instead it has a Brachiosaurus. This could be linked to LEGO having only made the latter as of 2024, when the set released.
