Dodgson III is the twenty-first chapter in the Fourth Configuration. Here Dodgson and Baselton face two adult Tyrannosaurus and the latter gets eaten up alive due to misinformation.

Plot[]

The lead adult Tyrannosaurus charges towards Lewis Dodgson, pausing sometimes, bellowing, while the other remained at the side of the nest. While it charges, it appears not to immediate attack to the men, they may have disappeared from the dinosaur's vision. Dodgson dares not glance at George Baselton whom he thought might be peeing in his pants. Dodgson hopes the celebrity biologist does not move or he will be killed. Dodgson remembers what Baselton remarked regarding Roxton's journal article on a T.rex vision of motionless objects and believes standing still is correct. He tries to reconnect the battery power cord to his sound device while still keeping an eye on the approaching T.rex. The injured infant cries and attract their parents and now the lead T.rex is in front of Baselton, not Dodgson. The latter still thinks the adult dinosaur cannot see his partner.

The Tyrannosaurus opens his jaws and smells Baselton and now Dodgson realizes the carnivore could actually see the biologist. In an terrifying move, Baselton is knocked down, pressed down by the T.rex's foot and eaten alive with a loud scream as his last cry. Dodgson could only see Baselton's hand and watch then make a fast run. In the trailer, the kids have watched and Kelly Curtis feels sick and tells Arby Benton to turn off the monitor, he does, however, says he's not to blame. She questions Arby but he also turns sick and runs to the bathroom. Ian Malcolm shouts that he knew the Biosyn group would try to steal the eggs and the parents are leaving their nest. He calls the kids, however, they are still shocked and sick, thus unable to get a proper picture of the following events.

Dodgson in fact has reach his jeep and with some shock, swears at Howard King that Baselton was killed. King, ever the more rational person, thinks they should return the egg but Dodgson yet again shouts him down and struggles with his assistant as he drives. One of the Tyrannosaurus appears and naturally blocking the jeep's path. Dodgson swears at King's suggestion and reverses, however, the second Tyrannosaurus appears, trapping them. As he wildly turns the wheel, the jeep crashes into dense underbrush and surrounding trees and the back wheels hang over a hill. With the roars of the T.rexes near, Dodgson jumps out, hits a tree trunk and fall unconscious.
