Doedicurus was a glyptodont, an extinct family of very large edentates with huge domed "shells" on their backs, akin to Glyptodon. It had a spiked club on its tail. Some of the shells that these animals carried were so large that prehistoric men used them as houses.[2] To compete for females, it is believed that male Doedicuruses swung their tails at each other.[3]
