I have disabled the Wikia badges on this wiki. Badges are a very nice idea to encourage users to be more active and get some reward for their work. However, I have seen that it isn't working.

The current Wikia Badge system can't check the quality of the edits it's rewarding. I have seen people making lots of VERY small edits to get their "100 Edits" badge. Some users add things like "......" to an article, an immediately removing it afterwards. Doing this will certainly boast your number of edits, while only wasting valuable computer memory.

After all these years I think badges have done this wiki more wrong than good. Therefore, I have disable this feature. I was the user with the most badges on this wiki, so I have "lost" most by doing this.

Unless someone has a REALLY good reason to get the badges back, they stay away.

I should have discussed this first with the other admins, ofcourse. However, they have a tendency stay silent when I make these proposals. Therefore, I've made the decision first, and listen to complains afterwards. BastionMonk (talk) 13:24, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

Speaking as an admin, I couldn't care less about badges, so it doesn't matter to me whether or not you removed them. It does discourage useless edits, though I still suspect that those will still be done to troll us. Jurassic Park Treasury (talk) 08:52, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

I know exactly what you mean, and yes, we will still have trollers. However, this will probably deter any wiki members from actually trolling to gain "Achievements". --John Alfred Hammond, CEO (talk) 15:02, November 17, 2013 (UTC)
