The Franklin's gull (Leucophaeus pipixcan) is a species of gull that lives in much of Canada and the United States. It is a migratory bird that travels to the Caribbean and South America during winter. The back and wings of the adult are much darker grey than the other gulls.
It was named to commemorate the arctic explorer Sir John Franklin, who led an expedition in 1825 on which the type was collected.
