Galtonia (not to be confused with a species of Galtonia plant or Gastonia) is a genus of pseudosuchian that lived during the Late Triassic in what is now the New Oxford Formation, located in Pennsylvania, in the United States of America. The type and only species, Galtonia gibbidens, was originally named as a species of Thecodontosaurus in 1878 but was later renamed into a new species in 1994. Another plant in the animal kingdom has this name. However, a genus in one kingdom could have the same name as a genus in another kingdom. It was at first being classified as an ornithischian, but was later assigned with Revueltosaurus, being a possible synonym of this animal.
Jurassic Park Franchise[]
Galtonia was illustrated by Timothy Bradley in the Dinopedia section of the now defunct Jurassic Park Institute. It is inaccurately portrayed as an ornithischian when in fact, it is related to crocodilians.
