I. rex Specimen Retrieval

The I. rex Specimen Retrieval was a mission and an event in which a group of mercenaries working for Eli Mills retrieved a DNA sample of the Indominus rex in the form of a rib bone. This was done by coordination between three teams on land, sea, and air, and it also served as a catalyst in the creation of the new hybrid: the Indoraptor.

The mission was undertaken under cover of darkness during a raging storm six months after the Jurassic World Incident. A mercenary technician, Jack ("Land One"), opened the gates of the Jurassic World Lagoon so that a submarine ("Marine One") manned by two men could enter. The plan was that the sub's operators would retrieve the bone and send it to the surface where it would be retrieved by a helicopter ("Air One"). Jack would then close the lagoon gates in case the Mosasaurus, which the team erroneously believed was dead after a year, was still alive so she wouldn't escape into the open sea.

Meanwhile, another team of mercenaries spotted a yacht leaving the island and orders it to dock immediately. The team discovers a group of six kids- the campers that had been assigned to Camp Cretaceous during the time of the Jurassic World Incident- and starts evacuating them, presumably to deliver them to Mills due to them being witnesses to the operation.

Before the evacuation is complete, the helicopter is attacked by Rexy the T. rex and flies away with Ben, Kenji, and Sammy. After the helicopter crashes and the pilot is presumed dead, Ben, Kenji, and Sammy escape. Meanwhile, Rexy kills Hansen and chases Darius, Yaz, and Brooklynn but becomes distracted after hearing a voice- Jack attempting to contact Marine One- from the park's Main Street and walks away.

Jack had no idea the sub was destroyed by the still-living Mosasaurus and its crew dead, so he hesitated in closing the gates, causing the helicopter to linger longer than necessary. When he finally began closing them, he was attacked by Rexy, who chased him down Main Street. He dropped the pad controlling the gates, which the T. rex stepped on, aborting the closing sequence. As a result, the gates remained open. After narrowly escaping from Rexy by grabbing a rescue ladder dropped by the helicopter, Jack was killed when the Mosasaurus erupted from the water and ate him as the chopper flew over the lagoon, all of which are witnessed by Darius, Brooklynn and Yasmina. Realizing the mercenaries were not on the island to rescue them, they began to suspect ulterior motives.

In one of the helicopters, Mr. Henry Wu arrived and revealed his plans to retrieve his private laptop. Darius, Yaz, and Brooklynn agreed to steal it first for the possibility of having Wu incarcerated for creating the hybrid dinosaurs. Traveling through the lab's vents, the three campers managed to take the laptop. However, Brooklynn was grabbed and taken by Hawkes, one of Henry Wu's armed guards; before leaving their sight, she gives Darius the laptop. Brooklyn was dragged outside by Hawkes, where Wu and Brooklyn see each other for the first time since before the incident. Hawkes and Reed, another mercenary, chased Darius and Yasmina through the jungle, using infared and spotting two heat signatures. Reed moved in, thinking that it was the campers, but was instead killed by Chaos and Limbo. Hawkes gave Darius and Yasmina two hours to deliver the laptop, in order to secure Brooklyn's release.

After being reunited with Kenji, Sammy and Ben, Darius explained what happened to Brooklyn and his plan to get her back while also managing to copy and wipe out Wu's memory and research on this laptop. However, not willing to put Brooklyn's life at risk, Kenji took the laptop before it wiped out all the memory and ran to find Wu. Kenji reached Brooklyn, Wu and the mercenary, all of whom reached the helicopter the following morning, and then handed Wu the laptop. However, at that moment, Ben led Bumpy and her herd of Ankylosaurus to attack Wu and the mercenary, as part of the plan. The attack ended with Wu's laptop being destroyed and Brooklyn managing to escape and be reunited with the campers. Wu and the mercenary left on the helicopter, after learning that the other mercenary got the sample of the Indominus rex.

Despite losing seven members of the team, the mission was a success, as the men aboard the chopper had managed to retrieve the I. rex bone, although Wu's laptop was destroyed. With the DNA sample safely aboard, they flew off. Meanwhile, the Mosasaurus swam out the still open gates and into the ocean, free to hunt in the deep.

The DNA sample of the Indominus rex was later used by Eli Mills and Henry Wu to create a new hybrid called Indoraptor by crossing it with DNA of Velociraptor. This DNA sample was later destroyed by the T. rex of Isla Nublar, who crushed it under her foot after she had killed and eaten Eli Mills. This destroyed the last evidence of the Indominus rex's existence and stopped the future creation of hybrid dinosaurs once and for all.
