"There's a boat, right alongside the bank. Looks in good shape."

Barge JP3

The InGen Barge, or river barge,[1] was a small boat containing a cage that was found by the survivors of the rescue near the Isla Sorna Aviary and used in order to get to the island's coast. It was probably used by InGen workers to transport juvenile dinosaurs.

History[]

The Spinosaurus destroyed the barge when it attacked the survivors in the river.

The barge had sunken cages near it and was spotted by Dr. Alan Grant on the top of a hill via binoculars while he and Eric searched for a way off the island. Then the two reunited with the rest of the group and made their way to the barge through the aviary.

Grant and the Kirbys barely made it out alive when they were attacked by the Pteranodons that were being contained in the aviary. Safely aboard the derelict vessel, the four humans sailed it down the river when they were once again attacked by the Spinosaurus. Emerging from the water, the Spinosaurus punctured the gas tank and smashed the bridge house on the barge, before finally sinking the barge in an effort to get at the humans inside.

Behind the scenes[]

The barge design was created by Chad S. Frey.[2]

The barge can be seen in the studio tour at Universal Studios Hollywood.
