- "For most of the Cretaceous period, modern day India was an island. This isolation led to the evolution of some very different and strange dinosaurs, such as Jainosaurus and Indosuchus."
- —Fact of the day(src)
Indosuchus is a genus of theropod from the abelisaurid family that lived during the late Cretaceous in what is now India. The binominal name is Indosuchus raptorius. It was named by Friedrich vo Huene in 1932, but was fully described the year after. Indosuchus translates to "Indian crocodile", despite the fact that it was a dinosaur, not a crocodile. The name should also not be confused with Indosaurus, who coexisted with the dinosaur.
Indosuchus lived with other abelisaurids like Compsosuchus and Rajasaurus, which suggest that they occupy different ecological niches.
Jurassic Park Franchise[]
Indosuchus is mentioned in Jurassic Park Institute, in a fact of the day about India.[1]
