The Eurocopter EC130 (now Airbus Helicopters H130) is a single engine light utility helicopter developed from the earlier Eurocopter AS350 Écureuil, one of the primary changes from which was the adoption of a Fenestron anti-torque device in place of a conventional tail rotor. It was launched and produced by the Eurocopter Group, which would later be rebranded as Airbus Helicopters. JW001, also known as the Jurassic One, was a Eurocopter EC130 B4 (or an Airbus H130) helicopter that was used at Jurassic World.

Story[]

Visitors who bought the "Adrenaline Package" of Jurassic World would be a passenger of the JW001 and would be given a tour of Isla Nublar. It appeared to be the personal helicopter of Simon Masrani. Before the incident at Jurassic World, Masrani flew himself, his flight instructor and Claire Dearing, albeit somewhat clumsily, to the Indominus rex Paddock, which caused the unfortunate instructor to suffer from air sickness.

During the rampage of the escaped Indominus rex during the Jurassic World Incident, JW001, piloted by Masrani Global Corporation CEO Simon Masrani, was outfitted with an M134 Minigun as means of trying to kill the hybrid. JW001 followed the I. rex to the Jurassic World Aviary, where it was attacked by escaped Pteranodons, that were flying out of a hole in the aviary. The Pteranodons killed the gunner and co-pilot and hit the helicopter from multiple angles. Unable to take anymore, and despite Masrani's efforts to stabilize the copter, JW001 spiraled out of control, and smashed into one of the walls of the enclosure before exploding when it hit the ground, killing Masrani.

The hole created by the helicopter's destruction released the Aviary's inhabitants, who proceeded to attack the park visitors - resulting in yet another addition to the growing conflict. [1]

Behind the Scenes[]

  • The blue and silver livery of JW001 is the same livery of the EC130s operated by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, this is due to Blue Hawaiian Helicopters leasing 2 of their helicopters for the filming on Jurassic World... Two extra helicopters were used; but were salvaged from helicopters written off in accidents.

LEGO Jurassic World[]

JW001 appears in the game, but is not pilotable and is unidentified as it lacks its designation on its tail.

In the opening cutscene for the level "Under Attack" Simon uses the helicopter to stop the escaped Indominus rex like in the film. However, instead of being attacked by Pteranodons they are instead attacked by Dimorphodons and all passengers survive.

In the Jurassic World hub, its remains can be found inside the Jurassic World Aviary with Masrani stuck under what is left of the helicopter trying to escape. He can be freed by pulling a hover switch for Pteranodon, which unlocks a gold brick and makes him purchasable.

LEGO Dimensions[]

In the Jurassic World, the remains of JW001 can be found near Simon Masrani. After the mission "Survival of the Richest" is completed, Masrani says that he is now able to repair it.

Jurassic World: Evolution[]

JW001 is a vehicle in Jurassic World: Evolution.

LEGO Jurassic World[]

A LEGO model of JW001 is included in the LEGO Jurassic World set 75915 Pteranodon Capture. It has a mounted net shooter to capture the Pteranodon that comes with the set.
