Jurassic Park Interactive was the only strategy-based action game based on the 1993 movie Jurassic Park. It was released in 1994 only for the 3DO by Universal Interactive.

Gameplay[]

The game's interface is set as a computer screen that allows you to navigate a map of the island, as well as a collection of 5 minigames programmed by Dennis Nedry.

Players have to locate various guests on the map, then engage in a short action level that either involves outrunning a Tyrannosaurus in a jeep, escaping from a small building containing Raptors, or shooting approaching Spitters with a charged electric gun.

The end of the game comes once the player successfully relocates all of the island's guests to the helipad dock and locates outside help by breaking through Nedry's minigames.

Trivia[]

  • During the 3DO's short lifespan (of only two years), Jurassic Park Interactive was one of the system's greatest sellers. Electronic Gaming Monthly rated the game 9 out of 10 in the 1995 Videogame Buyer's Guide.
  • Though footage from the film is also included in the opening sequence, actual shots of actors' faces are noticeably edited out due to the fact that none of them ever signed a release granting their likeliness in a video game. As a result, look-alike actors portray the characters in further game cut scenes and images.
