Jurassic World: Rebirth is the upcoming seventh film and sixth sequel in the Jurassic Park franchise. The film has a slated release date of July 2, 2025.

Synopsis

"A new era is born.

Next summer, three years after the Jurassic World trilogy concluded with each film surpassing $1 billion at the global box office, the enduring Jurassic series evolves in an ingenious new direction with Jurassic World Rebirth.

Anchored by iconic action superstar Scarlett Johansson, breakthrough talent Jonathan Bailey and two-time Oscar® winner Mahershala Ali, this action-packed new chapter sees an intrepid team racing to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air. Also starring acclaimed international stars Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the film is directed by dynamic visualist Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) from a script by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp.

Five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

Academy Award® nominee Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.

Ali is Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s most trusted team leader; Emmy nominee and Olivier Award winner Jonathan Bailey (Wicked, Bridgerton) plays paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Emmy nominee Rupert Friend (Homeland, Obi-Wan Kenobi) appears as Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer, Murder on the Orient Express) plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked civilian family.

The cast includes Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty) and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez) as Reuben’s family. The film also features, as members of Zora and Krebs’ crews, Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Béchir Sylvain (BMF) and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).

Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by BAFTA winner Edwards from a script by Koepp (War of the Worlds), based on characters created by Michael Crichton. The film is produced by Oscar® nominee Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, both longtime Jurassic franchise producers and of this summer’s blockbuster, Twisters. The film is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer."

• On January 22, 2024, it was confirmed that David Koepp would be responsible for writing the script.
• On January 24, 2024, it was confirmed by Steve Brusatte himself that he would be returning as paleontology consultant for the film.
• On February 5, 2024, it was confirmed that David Leitch was in talks to direct Jurassic World: Rebirth, and a slated release date of July 2, 2025, was also revealed.
• On February 9, 2024, it was reported by Deadline that talks between David Leitch and Universal Studios have fallen through due to conflicting visions for the film.

• On April 11, 2024, rumors surfed that Dev Patel was in talks to have a major role in Jurassic World: Rebirth.
• On April 15, 2024, rumors surfed that Colman Domingo would be playing the "villain" for the film. On the same day, Deadline reported Jonathan Bailey was in talks to play a major lead in the film.
• On April 29, 2024, it was reported that Jurassic World: Rebirth has booked almost all facilities at the Malta Film Studios in Kalkara. On the same day, Jurassic Outpost reported John Mathieson would be the Director of Photography. Additionally, Jim Spencer will be a Producer on the film, and Jack Ravenscroft as 1st Assistant Director.
• On May 10, 2024, Deadline reported that Manuel Garcia-Rulfo was in negotiations to have a lead role in Jurassic World: Rebirth.
• On May 15, 2024, Jonathan Bailey confirmed on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show, he will be in a leading role for the film.
• On May 22, 2024, it was reported by Deadline that Rupert Friend has joined the cast.

• On May 31, 2024, Deadline reported the actorless, Luna Blaise would have a "key role" in the film. On the same day, Luna Blaise confirmed on an Instagram post that she would be acting in the film.
• On June 6, 2024, The Hollywood Reporter reported David Iacono joined the cast list for Jurassic World: Rebirth. On the same day, just like Luna Blaise, David Iacono gave confirmation on his Instagram account via a post.
• On June 13, 2024, Variety revealed the filming locations will be in Thailand as well as the studios in Malta and the U.K.
• On June 14, 2024, The Hollywood Reporter reported Audrina Miranda joined the cast list for Jurassic World: Rebirth. After the article was released, Audrina Miranda gave confirmation to her role on the film on Instagram via a post.
• On June 17, 2024, Comicbook.com released an interview with Scarlett Johansson for the film, Fly Me to the Moon. During the interview, she gave confirmation to her casting for the film.
• On July 16, 2024, filming in Thailand was completed. Also, in some capacity, filming was already underway in Malta.
• On July 19, 2024, Amblin Entertainment and Universal Studios filled 10 trademarks for various products to the United States Patent and Trademark Office with the title "Jurassic World: Rebirth"

• On September 15, 2024, during an interview with Variety, Jonathan Bailey confirmed that the film will use animatronics for the dinosaurs.
• On September 28, 2024, Producer, Frank Marshall posted on Twitter/X stating that Jurassic World: Rebirth has officially wrapped up principal photography. The United Kingdom was the final filming location, so the film is expected to enter post-production sometime soon.
