Description[]
- Kentrosaurus was a small Stegosaur that once roamed Africa. Its name means 'pointed lizard'.
- Like other Stegosaurs, Kentrosaurus had spikes on its tail for defense, but its dorsal plates were more spike-like than its famous cousin.
Discovery[]
- Only partial skeletons have been recovered for Kentrosaurus, and only in the Tenaguru Formation of Tanzania.
Paleoecology[]
- The Tendaguru Formation consists of marine, tidal and low coastline environments. It was subtropical with seasonal rains and dry periods.
