Comics[]
Lewis Dodgson, while being one of the central antagonist of the franchise, his role in the comics much like the films themselves is minimal at best. Being only featured in two of the comics series.(See below).
Jurassic Park (1993) Comic adaption[]
Being the first of Topps Jurassic Park comics, the original set of four was merely a comic adaption of the continuity draft of the actual film written by David Koepp. Lewis Dodgson meets with Dennis Nedry at a café during rush hour in the middle of San Jose. Like the film, he has the money that Nedry asked of in order to compensate for his thievery of Jurassic Parks embryos and hands him the shaving cream can in order to do so.
Notes:
- Rather than a red color T-shirt, and khaki pants, Dodgson is showcased in a full leather suit and notably missing his sunglasses.
- Dodgson does not match the appearance of Cameron Thor, likely due to the comic being produced before he was cast. Resembling more of Don Knotts than the actual actor who played the character.
Jurassic Park: Redemption[]
Dodgson has a key role in the Jurassic Park: Redemption series. He is portrayed as an unscrupulous redhead and is an employee of Tim Murphy's secret Jurassic Park and has to feed the dinosaurs, cruelly punishing them for any hindrance.
Lewis Dodgson is first introduced as one of the keepers tending to the triceratops, bringing out the animals to feed on local farmers’s crops. When it’s time for them to stop eating, he hits the one he considers a “freak” for it to stop, only for the dinosaur to launch him into the air. Once he comes back down, he uses a stun gun to shock the trike. Later on, he appears once a farmer is being interrogated after he got attacked by a dinosaur and one of his animals was killed and partially eaten. Once he returns, he’s accidentally stepped on by a Triceratops and shocks it again for a second time.
After a few minor scenes of him feeding dinosaurs, Dodgson is arguing with a co-worker, Backer, about the Carnotaurus that managed to escape and started killing both animals and their co-workers. Once Backer leaves to find the Carnotaurus, Dodgson frees the Gracilisuchus, who proceeds to kill and devour Henry Wu, leaving only an arm behind. Once Bakker finds out, he confronts Dodgson about it, who lies by saying he has no idea how the thing got out.
During a meeting between him, Backer, and Mr. Would, the latter orders him to "show" Backer who's really running the operation, and Dodgson responds by shocking the man and knocking him out. His body is then taken to the Mussaurus pen.
Later on, Dodgson leads a group of dinosaurs alongside his men. That is until a car spooks them, and they all break loose and escape. As he goes to confront Tim Murphy and Mr. Would, it turns out the latter is none other than Peter Ludlow. Having survived being mauled by a baby T. rex , the two teamed up and hatched a plan; where they would create a Jurassic Park on the mainland, only to let all the dinosaurs break loose and slaughter countless to ruin Hammond’s legacy, while Dodgson's motives are unknown. During their conversation, Ludlow orders Dodgson to open all the paddock doors, and he does as he’s told. He then leaves the building off-screen, and the last time we see him, he’s “near the park”, begging a jeep to come back for him. As he realizes he’s been abandoned, Dodgson wonders what he’s going to do now, but is interrupted by the same Triceratops he abused impaling him on her horns.
