The lichen katydid (Markia hystrix) is a species of katydid that lives in the highlands of Colombia and Panama, up to an altitude of at least 1,800 meters (5,900 feet). It is erroneously reported in other areas, due to its confusion with other species in the genus Markia, all of which are known as lichen katydids. Those katydids are spiny and well camouflaged in their natural habitats.
