The lion (Pathera leo) is a species of Panthera (commonly referred to as a Big Cat) presently native in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Gir Forest of India. At one point its historic range included much of the continent of Africa even in the Sahara, Southern and Eastern Europe, and much of South Asia. In human culture it is referred to as "The King of Beasts".

Sarah Harding had previous field experience observing various African predators which included lions. This was cited by John Hammond as the reason for her safety on the Isla Sorna Expedition. Though her boyfriend Ian Malcolm disagreed.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom[]
When Rexy fled from Lockwood Manor, she in her confusion broke down a fence and entered the enclosure of a zoo lion. Rexy roared at the modern animal and the male lion roared back from atop its rock.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous[]
In camp cretaceous, Tiff mentions how they are used to taking photos of animals in the wild and she says lions as an example. Mitch shows Darius Bowman pictures of animals they saw in Africa. One photo of the animals was a lion. When the Nublar Six are on Mitch and Tiff's boat. Sammy sees several photos of animals killed by Mitch and Tiff and one of the animals was a lion.

"All Night Long"[]
When the Nublar Six, together with Zayna, search the river in the African jungle with a canoe in search of Yaz during the night, they are attacked by a flock of Dimorphodon. After fending off the pterosaurs with paddles, they see how one of the Dimorphodon catches a fish and eat it on the shore. When the Dimorphodon lands on the shore, however, it is dragged into the bushes from behind by two lions and eaten.
Later, a lone lion threatens Yasmina as she roams through the jungle alone, but before the predator can do anything to her, it is attacked and killed by a Majungasaurus named Major.

The Roar That Rules It All[]
The aftermath of the Lion and Rexy encounter is shown in this comic. It continued to roar at the dinosaur which then fled the zoo from police and animal control.

Trivia[]
- Although one of the largest big cats, it is not the largest big cat alive today or the largest that ever existed, as those respective honors goes to the tiger (Panthera tigris) and the American lion (Panthera atrox).
