Lycaenops was a genus of Protomammal (Therapsid) from the late mid-Permian to early late-Permian period. They lived in modern day South Africa. Lycaenops was a carnivore and about 1 metre (3 feet) long. Like the modern day wolves, Lycaenops had a long and slender skull, with a set of dog-like fangs set into both its upper and lower jaws (from which it takes its name).

A figure of Lycaenops appears in the Jurassic Park Series 2 toy line. The toy is a lot bigger than its real-life counterpart compared to the human figures. It has a cool attack action saber-strike fangs to clamp human and small dinosaur figures in its jaws.

In the Chaos Effect toy line, a figure appears of a Tyrannops, which is a fictional mix of a Tyrannosaurus rex and a Lycaenops.

It was also featured in the Jurassic Park: Dinosaurs Hybrids in Mexico.
