The Madagascar giant day gecko (Phelsuma grandis) is a species of diurnal arboreal gecko that resides in the tropical and subtropical forests of Madagascar. It was introduced in Florida, Hawaii, and Reunion Island. Its main diet consists of various invertebrates, very small vertebrates, and nectars.
Like other day gecko species, Madagascar giant day gecko males can be quite territorial and will not accept other males in their neighborhood. They only allow females to enter their territory. However, the males could heavily wound a female in captivity, so both gender must be separated.
