McNally was a poacher tracking Blue in Gibson Peak, California following the Dinosaur Outbreak. He and his partner, Jones sought to bag the raptor following it's disruption of ranching operations in the area.
History[]
McNally and his partner Jones were hired by local ranchers in the Gibson Peak area to deal with the raptor, Blue who had been killing livestock and destroying property. They were expected to have completed the job by friday. While in the woods they were observed by Maisie Lockwood and Violet Moody who overheard them discussing their plans. McNally convinced Jones to without their bosses knowledge kill the two Triceratops they sighted earlier and sell their horns on the market as well as bag Blue for him and the ranchers. Following this agreement they went back to their motel for an equipment check then head out the following morning.
Coming back the next day they were attacked by Maisie from a treehouse. McNally in response ordered Jones to pursue the triceratops calls they heard while he pursued Maisie. Using a climbing axe and spiked boots to reach the top he attempted to grab Maisie as she swung off a rope to the ground however only succeeded in severing the rope, trapping him in the treehouse. He was later taken into custody by Sheriff Wragg and his deputies.
Trivia[]
Throughout the book there are several hints that Jones and McNally work for a larger organization rather than being independent poachers. During their first conversation they mention a "facility" and a "boss" who is interested in capturing Blue. They're also well aware of Owen, Claire and Maisie's identities, Jones even going so far as to taunt them about it. The organization they work for is unknown but due to the interest in Blue and Maisie one could reasonably assume they work for Biosyn. This tracks due to Lewis Dodgson having several ties to poaching and the black market.
