This section is taken from the Dinosaur Field Guide.
Muttaburrasaurus ("Lizard from Muttaburra") has a stocky, well-muscled body. Although the only mounted skeleton in the world is shown with a thumb spike as big as Iguanodon's, some scientists question the restoration of this feature. That's because the original spike bone in Muttaburrasaurus is only partially preserved.
One feature Muttaburrasaurus has in common with later ornithopods, or two-legged plant-eating dinosaurs, is its large nose. It is not known if this nose allowed Muttaburrasaurus to communicate, as the hadrosaurs are believed to have done. Those nose is closer to the tip of the snout than in hadrosaurs, but it is still large enough to block any stereoscopic vision directly ahead. Humans and predators have stereoscopic vision, which allows them to see in depth. Plant-eating dinosaurs and other prey have non-overlapping fields of vision, which gives them the ability to see more widely, but hinder depth perception.

Profile[]
- Muttaburrasaurus is a hadrosaur which eats moderate amounts from ground herbivore feeders. Description[]
- Muttaburrasaurus was an ornithopod (bird-like) dinosaur that once lived in Australia. Its name means 'Muttaburra lizard' after the location it was first discovered. It had shearing teeth, probably adapted for consuming tough plants like cycads.
Discovery[]
- The first fossil of Muttaburrasaurus was found in Muttaburra in Queensland, Australia in 1963. The holotype specimen was discovered later in the Mackunda Formation in New South Wales.
Paleoecology[]
- As the Muttaburrasaurus was believed to have eaten cycads and other tough vegetation, it indicates their environment to be semi-arid with few waterways.
Jurassic World Evolution 2[]
Muttaburrasaurus returns in the sequel of the game.
Jurassic World Evolution 3[]
Muttaburrasaurus appears in Jurassic World Evolution 3. It was confirmed through the dinosaur database.
Cards[]
Muttaburrasaurus appears on nr. 68 of the Inkworks Jurassic Park III Premium Trading Cards. Because of this some fans believe that Muttaburrasaurus is on InGen's list and lives on Isla Sorna in the movie canon.
