Season 3[]
Nonna debuts when she opened the door to Ben and his friends before she closes it only for Gia to open it instead and reunited with Ben and meets his friends which Nonna is less than pleased. Gia tells the group to not mind Nonna whom is revealed to be superstitious and believes that just talking about dinosaurs will bring about a curse. Nonna drags Kenji off to help her with dinner. As the others have dinner, Sammy is more concerned about the curse that Nonna mentioned. Through Gia's translations, Nonna explains that she believes that dinosaurs are otherworldly creatures sent to punish humanity. An exasperated Gia explains that someone that Nonna barely knows allegedly knew someone who got eaten by a dinosaur. Gia doesn't share her grandmother's beliefs, suggesting that it was a wolf instead and definitely not something that was trying to teach the man a lesson or to punish humanity. Nonna ends her speech with a rather violent gesture and Ben understands her enough to translate that the old woman wants to rid the world of all dinosaurs.
When Bumpy's Egg hatches the group are alarmed when they see Nonna using a meat grinder, worried that she had killed the baby with it due to Nonna's hatred of dinosaurs. However, Nonna is just making beef and pork meatballs, much to everyone's relief. Later, Ben bursts into Nonna's kitchen, startling her, and spots the missing baby moving around with a pot on top of it. Ben leaps on top of the pot and Gia breaks a dish as a distraction for her grandmother while the others get the baby out.[1]
Nonna first sees Smoothie when Kenji leaves with him, bumping into her outside and furious, she chases Kenji and Smoothie through the house, trying to kill the baby dinosaur. Kenji tells the old woman that Smoothie is not evil, he's just a baby dinosaur and not something that's going to curse her or humanity. Nonna orders Kenji to throw Smoothie out, but Kenji pleads with her as he can't let the baby be all alone. Seeing how much Smoothie means to Kenji, Nonna stops and, speaking in English for the first time, reassures Kenji that he's not alone either. Nonna recognizes that Kenji needs Smoothie too and agrees to let him stay. Kenji leaves Smoothie with Nonna while he goes to clean up. Seeing that the dinosaur has to go to the bathroom, Nonna takes him outside, but has to go back in when her timer goes off. When Kenji comes back to find that Nonna left Smoothie outside, he frantically goes to get him, only to discover that the baby dino has run away.[2]
Kenji accuses Nonna of purposefully letting Smoothie run away before joining in the search for him in the Plazza. The village is empty as if everyone had left in a hurry, suggesting that the church bells really were a warning. Gia accuses Nonna of purposefully losing Smoothie, pointing out how much Nonna hates dinosaurs and has spoken badly of them and anyone who has anything to do with them for years. Gia then admits that her hatred of dinosaurs has kept her from telling Nonna that she's going to be a paleontologist when she graduates. Gia lied because she was afraid that Nonna would want nothing to do with her if she knew, but if Nonna really did throw an innocent creature like Smoothie out in the cold, that might be for the best. Gia walks away, leaving her grandmother shocked and hurt.
When they find Smoothie only to see a Pyroraptor that's nearly about to eat him, Nonna surprisingly rescues Smoothie and apparently scares the dinosaur off by yelling at it. However, the Handler's Atrociraptor pack emerges and ignore the Nublar Five, focusing on the Pyroraptor with Nonna and Smoothie caught in between. Ben and Kenji risk their lives to get Nonna and Smoothie to safety as the raptors face off with the Pyroraptor being outmatched and outnumbered before being forced into a Biosyn Van.
The group gathers around Smoothie to welcome the baby dinosaur back and Kenji embraces Nonna, thanking her. Nonna really does care about Smoothie and, as she tells him, Kenji too. In English, Nonna apologizes to her granddaughter, telling Gia that she was scared and asking Gia to teach her about dinosaurs. The two hug and reconcile with each other.[3]
Nonna joins Gia, Kenji, Sammy and Smoothie as they prepare to leave for the airport and Kenji reads aloud a letter that he had written to the old woman thanking her for the fun experience and all of the support that Nonna had given to him at a time when he needed it the most despite Kenji being a complete stranger. Kenji wants to be there for people like Gia's grandmother was for him and he promises to pay her kindness forward and he wraps up the letter by thanking her. Nonna hugs the young man and even fondly says goodbye to Smoothie, having grown to deeply care for the baby dinosaur despite her previous hatred of dinosaurs in general. With a final wave goodbye from Nonna, Gia, Kenji, Sammy and Smoothie depart.[4]

However, after meeting Smoothie and seeing how emotionally connected and important he is to Kenji, Nonna slowly starts to change her mind and allows Smoothie to stay only to inadvertently lose him when he wanders off after she put him outside to go to the bathroom.
When Gia reveals that her hatred for dinosaurs caused Gia to lie about what she really wanted to do, Nonna presumingly saw the impact of her negative mind set on those around her.
