Incapable of particularly fast movement, it was most likely an ambush predator targeting weak or juvenile animals in a group at close range. Nundasuchus is an extinct genus of archosaur, possibly suchian, known from the Middle Triassic Manda beds of southwestern Tanzania. It contains a single species, Nundasuchus songeaensis, known from a single partially complete skeleton and skull.

Nundasuchus lived in what is now Tanzania, Africa around 240 million years ago and was a carnivore and apex predator, feeding on prey such as early reptiles andsynapsids. Incapable of particularly fast movement, it was most likely an ambush predator targeting weak or juvenile animals in a group at close range. It was around 2.7 meters (9 feet) long and has been described as having steak knife-like teeth and bony plates on its back. Its legs were situated underneath its body. This trait is more reminiscent of later therapod dinosaurs than it is of Nundasuchus's crocodilian and reptilian cousins, suggesting a connection between crocodilian reptiles and more developed therapod dinosaurs from the later Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous eras.

Games

Jurassic World: The Game

see Nundasuchus/JW: TG

Nundasuchus can be created in Jurassic World: The Game as a rare amphibian, even though in real life it was a terristrial reptile. When Nundasuchus is in its' pen, its' tail rest on the ground. While other crocodiles did this, its' unlikely Nundasuchus did this. With the legs under its' hips like a dinosaur and unlike a semi aquatic crocodile, Nundasuchus' tail had to be above the ground for balance.

Jurassic World: Alive

Nundasuchus will be in Jurassic World: Alive.

Trivia

  • The Nundasuchus in Jurassic World: The Game makes a variety of different sounds: including the growls of a lion, a tiger, and a leopard, and the grunts of a rhino, pig, and walrus.
