Pachycephalosaurus was a medium-sized green dinosaur with a large dome on its head. They were aggressive and bombarded any animals that presented a threat to them. There was a large population of them on Isla Sorna.

Characteristics

The Pachycephalosaurus cloned by InGen are described as being 4–6 feet tall, dark green, having large, curved protruding foreheads, a rim of knobby horns, and having the overall demeanor of water buffalo. They usually stood in a lazy, contented, cow-like manner unless disturbed, in which case they would attempt to ram things with their domed skulls.

The herd of Pachycephalosaurus was quite large, consisting of about a dozen members if not more, and was first located to the south of the valley, the herd was often found in the middle of the island's roadways where they would congregate and take advantage of the mudholes in the road, usually to the distress of people having to use the roads in their cars.

Crichton through Levine states that "nobody knows anything about (the Pachycephalosaurus)." That was around 1995. Today there are articles like this one give facts about the Pachycephalosaurus. It may have eaten both plants and meat. They may have not been so aggressive.

History

Creation

Pachycephalosaurus was created in a laboratory located in a village owned by InGen on Isla Sorna somewhere in the 80s as an attraction for Jurassic Park. However, no individuals were shipped to Isla Nublar at the time of the incident. Following InGen's abandonment, the dinosaurs that remained on Isla Sorna, including Pachycephalosaurus, were allowed to roam freely.

1995 Isla Sorna Expedition

Pachycephalosaurus was among the herds of dinosaurs in the valley that Levine and Malcolm were viewing in the High Hide. Levine was unsure whether they were Gravitholus albertae or Pachycephalosaurus wyomingensis at first, but he eventually decided they were the latter. Levine and Malcolm were at odds over the issue that the animals butted heads.

When Howard King came around a corner to leave Isla Sorna through a fishing boat, he stumbles into the herd of Pachycephalosaurus. The front bumper nudged the nearest animal, which grunted, took a couple of steps back, lowered its head and butted the front of the car with a metallic clang! The herd attacked King while he was in the car, and after he got on the ground, they snorted all around him. Howard was separated from the correct side of the road as a result.

Sarah Harding later stumbles onto the car and the Pachycephalosaurus surrounding it, to which he asked Richard Levine about their danger in the radio. Richard replies that nobody knows about these dinosaurs before one of them charged the trunk of the tree she was in, butting it hard. The impact led Harding to hit the ground, right beside the animals. Fortunately, Sarah Harding was underneath the car. The Pachys were stamping and snorting, trying to get at her under the car. However, they all thundered off upon sensing an adult Tyrannosaurus rex approaching.
