Parasaurs is the thirteenth chapter in the Fourth Configuration. Here Levine continues to observe the Parasaurolophus behavior.

Plot[]

The chapter continues from Mating Calls where Richard Levine is still in the High Hide, holding on to its railing as the Parasaurolophus herd approach. The dinosaur is a duck-billed Hadrosaur with a three feet-high skull. He judges the lead Parasaurolophus is twelve feet tall, around the size of a large elephant. Three more appear and the lead dinosaur is abreast of the hide, staring at Levine. He see it has a large brown eye and dark purple tongue. This parasaurolophus shakes the Hide passes as well as the second. The third nevertheless struck the Hide yet it failed to notice what it did. This continues with the rest of the herd and only then, Levine sees a game trail and relaxes. As with previously, he still wonders what this herd is up to. still noting their behavior as strange. He recalls their defensive pattern while eating, however, the single file they formed would leave them at risk to predators. He thinks the single file is some pattern yet cannot decipher what it is. With the herd in the jungle, he again hears them emitting short-lived trumpeting sounds. This he reasons as a note of their location. Still wondering what the herd was up to, he lowers himself down.
