Sea Scorpion card in Jurassic Park: Builder

Sea scorpions (or Eurypterids) are an extinct group of arthropods which include the largest known arthropods that ever lived. They were formidable predators that thrived in the warm, shallow seas and lakes of the Ordovician to the Permian periods, around 460 to 248 million years ago. Sea scorpions predate the earliest fishes. The largest, such as Jaekelopterus, reached 2.5 meters (8.2 inches) or more in length, but most species were less than 20 centimeters (8 inches). They went extinct during the Permian–Triassic extinction event 252.2 million years ago, and their fossils have a near global distribution.

The typical eurypterid was large and flat and had a tapering, flexible tail, most ending with a long spine at the end. The tail, known as the telson, is spiked in most eurypterids. Pterygotus, though, had a large flat tail, possibly with a smaller spine.

Pterygotus had 4 pairs of walking legs, a fifth pair modified into swimming paddles, and a pair of large pincers for subduing prey. It would swim by flapping its long, flat tail up and down; the broad, flat part at the end would push it through the water in much the same way as the fluke on the whale's tail does.

Jurassic Park Franchise[]

The Sea scorpion Pterygotus can be created in Jurassic Park III: Park Builder. In Jurassic Park: Builder a "Sea Scorpion" appears and it has the same exposed three clawed tail and claws (minus the long paired spines on the claws) as Megalograptus.

The Sea Scorpion appears in Jurassic Park: Builder as a Limited DNA animal. It resembles and probably is Megalograptus. The scorpion starts off brown in color and turns red with black and blue spots in further evolutions. The evolution messages give additional information.

Initial Message: Sea scorpions are related to the scorpions, spiders, and horseshoe crabs. First Evolution Message: Even though they are called sea scorpions, they would venture in freshwater and land from time to time. Second Evolution Message: The sea scorpions can also be called Eurypterids or broad wing. Third/Last Evolution Message: The Sea Scorpion’s size was comparable to that of a large modern-day crocodile.

It's worth mentioning that in real-life, none of the Sea Scorpions were as long as a crocodile.
