He was described as in his twenties, wearing and out-of-fit uniform and scared of making a mistake. He first appeared inspecting Doc Thorne's papers and question the retired professor on his destination. He warned Thorne that Isla Sorna has no supplies, describing it as "a wild spot, rock and jungle" while learning Thorne brought adequate fuel for his vehicles. Rodríguez found it unusual that Thorne's papers were signed by the local Director General of the Biological Preserves as the islands were closed due to trouble a few years ago. Nevertheless, Rodríguez cleared Thorne, Ian Malcolm and Eddie Car to proceed.[1] Later on, Sarah Harding encountered Rodríguez who told her there was no helicopter available to fly her to Isla Sorna despite her demands. This forced her to seek transport via boat and eventually hitch a ride with Lewis Dodgson and his team on Gandoca's boat.[2]
