Saurophaganax (meaning "lord of lizard-eaters") is an extinct, dubious genus of saurischian dinosaur (probably a sauropod) that lived in Oklahoma, USA during the Late Jurassic period around 151 million years ago. Historically, scientists have considered Saurophaganax as a large species of Allosaurus (A. maximus) or a unique genus of allosaurid, however a 2024 study showed that the species was likely chimeric, with the material belonging to various unrelated species, and suggesting the Saurophaganax may not be a theropod, but rather a diplodocid sauropod.[1]
