The serpent flower beetle (Mecynorhina harrisi) is a species of flower chafer that is found within the tropical rainforests of Cameroon, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Very little is known about this beetle aside from its length, which reaches 30 to 50 millimeters. It has many subspecies, whose colorations and patterns depend on the subspecies.

It doesn't have a common name. In some sources, it is referred as the "serpent flower beetle" due to its large forked horn-like protrusions amongst the males, which resemble snake tongues.[1] Those protrusions are used to fight for the right of the females during the mating season.

History[]

DNA of the serpent flower beetle was used by InGen for Stegoceratops, giving the hybrid exo-skeletal armor.
