Seymouria is a genus of reptile-like amphibian from the family of seymouriamorph that lived during the Early Permian in what is now North America (New Mexico and Texas) and Europe (Germany). Even though it is an amphibian, it is adapted to live on land, like Eryops. However, both amphibians must return to the water to lay their eggs, where the babies as tadpoles will spend their lives up there until they are ready to leave the water they were born. One species, Seymouria sanjuanensis, was more abundant and widespread than the other species, Seymouria baylorensis. They feed on small preys, dead corpses and steal eggs from synapsids such as Dimetrodon and Edaphosaurus.
