Smilosuchus is an extinct genus of leptosuchomorph parasuchid phytosaur that lived during the Late Triassic period in what is now the United States of North America. The name was first described in 1995 as a replacement generic name for Leptosuchus gregorii. The species, whom has a large size, also has a short and deep jaw, indicating a powerful bite. At such, Smilosuchus may have preyed on big preys like Placerias, Desmatosuchus and other predators like Chindesaurus, Coelophysis, and Postosuchus.
