Soyona Santos's Dinosaur Trafficking Ring was a mob directed by crime lord Soyona Santos that trafficked dinosaurs, based in Malta. She was also persecuted by government agencies such as French Intelligence and CIA. One of the most dangerous individuals in the criminal network was Rainn Delacourt, a highly-wanted poacher.
History[]
The dinosaur trafficking ring was formed presumably after 2018 after Santos learned of the Indoraptor and how it was made to be weaponized. After the Indoraptor broke free, she decided that loyalty can't be engineered, it had to be nurtured, which would eventually encourage her to breed her own pack of Atrociraptor. Controlled by the Handler, the pack was used as assassins by Santos.
The ring was later infiltrated by Brooklynn of the Nublar Six whose investigation led to her being targeted by Santos along with her friends. The remaining members of the Nublar Six exposed the corrupt Department of Prehistoric Wildlife connection to the ring and got it shut down, subsequently discovering Santos' secret genetics lab in Senegal which she destroyed to cover up evidence.
Accompanied by Brooklynn, Santos cut a deal with billionaire CEO Lewis Dodgson from Biosyn. She would do favors for him and in turn he would pay her. As part of this, Dodgson planned to give her ownership of the black market that Biosyn funded in Valletta, Malta. Santos lent Dodgson the Handler and her pack to terrorize Professor Chuck Desai into supporting Biosyn being given dominion over all dinosaurs on Earth, but Dodgson went behind her back to use the Handler to kill Italian Regional Counsellor Corso who stood in the way of Dodgson's plans. In exchange for these services, Dodgson had promised the Handler that she would receive total ownership of her beloved Atrociraptor pack, who the mysterious woman treated with maternal instincts and love.
Santos's greatest mission was when Dodgson hired her to capture Maisie Lockwood so that he would be able to destroy the Biosyn locusts at the Biosyn Research Facility and destroy all evidence of his involvement. She hired Rainn Delacourt, a notorious dinosaur poacher, to go and retrieve Maisie and Beta, Blue's offspring. After Delacourt succeeded, he brought her to Santos whereas Kayla Watts was hired by Santos to transport Beta, since Santos didn't want to run the risk of the juvenile Velociraptor breaking out and potentially mauling Maisie.
After bringing Maisie to Biosyn, Santos paid Delacourt to transport the Atrociraptors across Malta in order to ship them to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. But a gunfight broke out as it turns out one of Delacourt's men was secretly a double agent working for French Intelligence. The gunfight resulted in Santos sending out her Atrociraptors to attack the agents. Meanwhile, Owen Grady pursued Delacourt, where in a desperate move Delacourt released a Carnotaurus and Allosaurus into the market to distract Owen. However, Owen still managed to corner and get in a knife fight with Delacourt, as the two huge carnivores rampaged around the market destroying the main base of operations for the trafficking ring. Delacourt was decapitated by a baby Baryonyx after telling him he dropped Maisie off to Santos.
Meanwhile, Claire Dearing tracked and fought Santos, where after threatening her with one of the tasers used to subdue Atrociraptors into revealing Maisie's whereabouts. Soyona told her that they had already delivered Maisie to Biosyn with Santos getting saved when one of her Atrociraptors, Tiger, attacks Claire and chases her.
Eventually, Santos was seemingly captured by Barry Sembène, surrendering herself but not before sending Panthera and Ghost after Owen. However, Santos escaped and contacted Dodgson for an extraction. Dodgson sent a Biosyn Drone Helicopter, but Santos was distracted by Brooklynn, Darius Bowman and Yasmina Fadoula before finally being apprehended by Barry and French Intelligence. The group then took the helicopter to Biosyn to stop them as well.
The organization is likely defunct after Santos' arrest and Biosyn's involvement in the ring exposed.
