Warning "Nothing in Jurassic World is natural, we have always filled gaps in the genome with the DNA of other animals."

This page contains content about a currently unidentifiable species from the Jurassic Park franchise. Until official sources confirm the identity of this species, the page will remain Super-raptor until further notice.

The "Super-raptor" was a dinosaur of unknown identity or possibly a fictional dinosaur that was considered for The Lost World: Jurassic Park, but Steven Spielberg discarded it because he felt that it was "a little too much out of a horror movie" and that he "didn't want to create an alien."[1]

The from , could have possibly been based off of the "Super-raptor".

The boss raptor from Jurassic Park: Trespasser, could have possibly been based off of the "Super-raptor".

In The Lost World: Jurassic Park, a Velociraptor said to be the deadliest of its kind would lead the pack to attack the humans. It was cut due to feeling too unnatural. It may have been a genetically modified Velociraptor or one with gigantism or a similar genetic mutation, similar to the boss raptor in Jurassic Park: Trespasser.

It is unknown if this "Super-raptor" was a nickname for an already existing dinosaur species or if it was fictional. One might assume that it was the similarly named Utahraptor, the largest known dromaeosaur. The latter would be most likely since it was described in 1993, coincidentally the same year Jurassic Park came out. Whereas, Megaraptor was described scientifically in 1998, after The Lost World: Jurassic Park came out.

Trivia[]

  • The Indoraptor shares similarities with the "Super-raptor", as they are both raptor dinosaurs that are more advanced than normal Velociraptors and are larger than regular Velociraptors.
