Do you have any sources for the creation of synthetic eggs? I can't seem to find anything about it on the internet. Jurassic Park Treasury (talk) 08:07, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

Nope. I think synthetic eggs only exist in Michael Crichton's imagination. I can't think of any reason why you would want to use plastic eggs. In The Science Of Jurassic Park And The Lost World Or, How To Build A Dinosaur they say it is better to insert the fertilised ovum back into the chicken/ostrich/chickenosaurus uterus. A natural egg will form around it. MismeretMonk (talk) 20:45, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

Should I remove it, then? Jurassic Park Treasury (talk) 04:34, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

Not remove, could you rewrite it? It still has to say that they use plastic eggs in the novel, but that those don't exist yet. And, furthermore, are unnescessary. MismeretMonk (talk) 11:28, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

Except that egg-laying animals don't have a uterus. They have an oviduct. Jurassic Park Treasury (talk) 04:26, January 21, 2013 (UTC)

Jurassic Park Treasury: I'm kind of starting to doubt MismeretMonk's science. He says you could create a dinosaur egg by inserting a fertilized dinosaur egg cell in the uterus of a bird. Except egg-laying animals have an oviduct, not a uterus.

So, you doubt all my knowledge because I don't know by heart what a bird's birth canal is called. You are really acting like a stupid kid. Nice attitute to the one who has to point out EVERYTHING to you.

I don't say that. The writers of The Science Of Jurassic Park And The Lost World Or, How To Build A Dinosaur say it. MismeretMonk (talk) 21:54, January 22, 2013 (UTC)

OK, maybe I should've been more specific. Still, someone who is supposed to study biology should know that birds don't have an uterus. Sorry if I sound like a stupid kid. I'm 13 and tend to be skeptical. Jurassic Park Treasury (talk)

Dude, scientists who know EVERYTHING of their field only exist in VERY cheap science fiction. Remember that! On many occasions I knew some facts better than my professors. I have found over 30 scientific mistakes in the Jurassic Park novels, but I still know that Michael Crichton was MUCH smarter than me. MismeretMonk (talk) 17:57, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

Cloning birds[]

The article does cite some sources about nuclear transfer in birds, but it uses those to disprove the notion that birds can't be cloned. Since seeing Mike McGrew's TED presentation, I've wondered if I should change that to say that whether birds can be cloned is debatable. Should I do that?
