I can not beleive some people think diemtrodon is a dinosaur.76.234.167.17 22:06, September 28, 2010 (UTC)The Brachiosaurid

Well, if you think about it, it looks like Spino, and he's a dinosaur, so why wouldn't Dimetrodon be? But no, it's not, it's a mammal-like reptile. Unless you know better it's an easy mistake to make. Toothless99 06:59, September 29, 2010 (UTC)
Not necessarily, Spinosaurus is a biped with its legs positioned directly under its body. Dimetrodon is a sluggish quadruped with its legs sprawling out to the sides like a lizard, they look different enough for people to tell them apart. I doubt many people who think Dimetrodon is a dino even know that Spinosaurus existed, it's not the most widely known dino.

Toy?[]

Do we really need the picture to be a toy? I am going to add this picture:

I think it will go better and really show what it looks like. Ruler of the coasters 13:47, November 23, 2011 (UTC)Kata89

Yes it would go better, if this were Wikipedia. But this is a wiki about Jurassic Park and it therefore should be shown as it appears in the franchise, and the toy is an example of what they depict the animal as looking like in JP. It's why T-rex's picture at the top of his article shows the animatronic used in JP3 instead of some illustration by Bob Bakker.

JPIV[]

I think that Dimetrodon would make a great addition to Jurassic Park IV. Anyone else agree? I'd like to see some pre-dino creatures appear at some point in the JP franchise.

yes it would be nice! Would be a nice opportunity to tell the big public this ISN'T a dinosaur :) MismeretMonk 10:01, April 13, 2012 (UTC)
its about time speilberg would add a non dinosauruian creature but unfortunatley i dont think it will appear in jp 4 because it wouldnt be menacing enough but i hope it does happen!
Who says a JP dinosaur has to be menacing? Are you forgetting about the many plant-eaters in the existing movies? Plus it simply defies common logic because the more menacing dinos Hammond created, the more unsafe the park would seem to Gennaro and his investors.

JPOG mod[]

Does anyone else think that it would be possible to make a Dimetrodon in JPOG by modding the Kentrosaurus to have no spikes, with the spikes instead replaced by a sail, and maybe give it the AI of Dilophosaurus to make it a carnivore?

The toy of Dimetrodon does not confirms Dimetrodon's appearance in JW3[]

The Dimetrodon toy doesn't even confirm its existence in the films, and is merely just a merchandise to promote the movie. Please, do not add Dimetrodon to the creatures of Jurassic World Dominion list unless it is officially stated. GurgiFan57 (talk) 02:47, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

The film's plot has been leaked to the moon and back. Dimetrodon was mentioned and there's no signs it was cut. If anything, it getting a unique render like in the recently revealed board game only further adds legitimacy. Furthermore, a Dimetrodon icon was also datamined from JWE2, and I think it's reasonable to assert that Frontier wouldn't add such a leap of a creature unless that's what the films were doing too. In short, it's completely fair game to add Dimetrodon to Dominion articles/categories now. --MJ (talk) 11:53, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
Dimetrodon is in the film confirmed via Twitter on Jurassic Outpost with stickers of one being the creature. SW-CanonDetailer01 (talk) SW-CanonDetailer01 03:04, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
