The Nublar Six is the twelfth and final episode of the fifth season in the Netflix series, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. The episode was released on July 21, 2022.

Synopsis[]

With the future of the island at stake, the friends band together - and fight harder than before - to protect what's really important.

Plot Summary[]

The episode begins with the children watching the Spinosaurus having apparently defeated Big Eatie, and the other non-controlled animals fleeing. Darius is forced to flee by Brooklynn as the group runs away. Daniel stalks the children with the controlled dinosaurs, as they narrowly escape his sight by hiding in a tree. Unable to find the children, Daniel attempts a tactic of altering the biome’s power supply with a tablet and forcing rapid weather changes.

The children are forced to flee, almost running straight into a trap created by Daniel. They race for the boat, heading down into the tunnels to evade their pursuers. However, they run into a Pteranodon, and are forced to run the opposite way, with Kenji managing to save Brooklynn before she is carried away. The Pteranodon forces the children to separate as Brooklynn runs off on her own.

Still pursuing the children, one of the mercs Godinez heads into a warehouse and grabs weapons to use. The children manage to initially evade him, but Yaz is startled enough to run right into one of the mercs and he grabs her. Just then, a Velociraptor appears and she is able to escape as the kids make a run for it. Sammy manages to save Ben from a raptor and they escape the warehouse, but the merc is killed.

Daniel receives intelligence that Godinez was killed and orders the remaining mercs to run to the beach. Kenji and Darius run to the beach, but are separated. Hawkes corners Darius with the Spinosaurus at the main compound, and Daniel once again threatens him. Darius refuses, as Daniel orders Hawkes to kill Darius, however Kenji comes between the Spinosaurus and Darius, forcing him to hold back. Kenji gives Daniel the password despite Darius’s protests. Daniel inputs the password, as he immediately betrays his son, ordering Hawkes to kill Darius to get rid of witnesses.

An angry and frightened Kenji is held back by his father as he is forced to watch. Just as the Spinosaurus is about to kill Darius, Big Eatie comes charging through the clearing, forcing Hawkes to duck and drop the controller. The Tyrannosaurus promptly steps on the controller. Now freed, the Spinosaurus fights Big Eatie again, as Kenji helps Darius escape ignoring both Daniel and Hawkes. Hawkes attempts to flee as well, but is killed and eaten by Little Eatie. Daniel flees as well, as the Eaties begin to gang up on the Spinosaurus. The Spinosaurus is pushed over by Big Eatie as it rolls over the ground. Seeing that he is outnumbered two to one and fighting both Tyrannosauruses at once to be suicide, the Spinosaurus ceases his assault and retreats into the forest.

A system critical warning begins to show on the screens, as poisonous gas begins to emerge from the ground, which knocks down the Eaties. Daniel realizes that the chips are drawing too much power which overloads the islands system and tries to flee as he can't shut it down. Kenji runs after his father as they reach the docks. Daniel tries to flee in an airplane only thinking what will happened with his reputation if his actions towards the dinosaurs and the campers are revealed and tells Kenji to join him. As Kenji protest thinking of his friends Daniel only says that they must protect their name revealing he is willing to let innocent children die to protect his reputation. This becomes the final straw for Kenji who finally confronts his dad for his cruelty as Daniel only thinks of his business and that he never has truly cared about other humans or not even truly cared about Kenji himself. Having realized that everything Daniel told him since their reunion has been lies, using and manipulation to earn his trust Kenji asks Daniel if he even looked for him after the fall of Jurassic World and if he ever meant anything to Daniel. Daniel clarifies that he never tried to find Kenji by avoiding the question and tells Kenji to get on the plane instead. Kenji however who knows Daniel's true nature understands that means Daniel never tried to find him and disowns Daniel by turning his back on him and choosing to stay with the rest of the campers knowing his friends are his true family as they has always been there for him unlike Daniel. Daniel, although seemingly hurt, flees on the plane without another word.

Kenji watches the plane take off as he is consoled by his friends. They reveal the alarm was an elaborate hoax meant to scare off Mr. Kon and the poisonous gas was actually sleeping gas released by Ben. The children release the last of the controlled dinosaurs as they settle down to watch the animals at the watering hole.

They get an alert about more visitors, as they hurry to the docks, seeing a ship. However, they see Dave and Roxie arriving with Dr. Turner and Brandon Bowman. Darius rushes to embrace his brother on the docks as the other campers reunite with their former counselors and Dr. Turner. They all escape on the boat, as Kenji is consoled by Brooklynn, as she informs him that Daniel Kon was arrested after Mae reported him to the police. The children finally reach the mainland and greet all of their families on the dock once they arrive. But Kenji has no own family to be with after his dad's arrest, but is adopted into Darius family on Darius' request.

The episode flashforwards to a few years in the future where Darius is giving a presentation to an audience regarding his experiences. He and Kenji checks in with the other survivors, now called the ‘Nublar Six’. Brooklynn informs the group that she has some information on the Lockwood Manor incident, as the rest of the group finish up the call. As Darius finishes up his work on the computer, he hears impact tremors, looking out his window in shock to see a Brachiosaurus having recently escaped from Lockwood Manor thus commencing the ending of Fallen Kingdom when Maisie releases all of the dinosaurs.

Trivia[]

  • This is the last and final appearance of Hawkes; he was killed by Little Eatie.
    • Unlike in Shaky Ground, Kenji doesn't lift a finger to save Hawkes this time after that he tried to have Darius killed by using the the mind-controlled Spinosaurus which probably has made Kenji realize at the same time by realizing his dads true nature that saving a bad guy like Hawkes was a big mistake and this time instead only cares about saving Darius. It's also possible that Kenji too by this time had understand that Hawkes just saved him earlier from Toro to make sure he would get his payment.
  • By choosing to remain with his friends instead for flee with his father, Kenji keeps his promise to Darius in the previous episode to never repeat his mistake by abandoning them for a father who he now knows just uses him for his own purposes.
  • As the campers watch the dinosaurs drinking at the watering hole a third raptor appears with the other two individuals.
  • While all of the campers stay in contact with each other, Kenji and Darius are actually still with each other due to living together after Darius's family adopts Kenji, with Sammy and Yasmina being in the same position due to maintaining their romantic relationship and Ben spending time with Bumpy and helping Mae take care of the dinosaurs.
  • Daniel Kon is arrested off-screen and Kenji inherits his fortune. With Daniel's arrest the threat against Sammy's family is gone.
  • After returning to the mainland is Kenji the only camper without a parent to return to since he disowned Daniel who was arrested later. However he is adopted by Mrs. Bowman much to his happiness as it finally gives him a family that actually cares for him. This makes him the second adopted child in the franchise after Maisie Lockwood.
  • Near the end of the episode, Brooklynn mentions she's investigating some strange events at the Lockwood Manor, foreshadowing the events of Fallen Kingdom.
  • The Spinosaurus retreated from the Eaties somewhat mirrors his previous retreat from the fire in Jurassic Park 3. Also, although the Eaties won, they had ironically inadvertently saved the Spinosaurus as well by freeing it from mind-control because in his mind-locked state the Spinosaurus would not have been able to defend himself.
